Former Vodafone Flying Fijians captain and now assistant backline coach Mosese Rauluni says the Flying Fijians can surpass the feat of the 2007 Flying Fijians.

Coached by Ilivasi Tabua the 2007 team had reached the quarterfinals only to lose out to the Springboks 37-20.

“This is one of the best sides to play in the RWC,” Rauluni said.

“Players are really focused to play in the RWC and can achieve or better the 2007 quarterfinal finish.”

Rauluni said being in the tough pool with England, Australia, Wales and Uruguay won’t be easy.

“But players have worked hard and I’m confident that they will rise to the occasion,”Rauluni said.

“They are focused and eager to play and make the country proud.

“We can qualify for the quarterfinals from our pool.”

Yesterday, fans turned up in numbers at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva to farewell the team on their way to Nadi.

The team departs at 9.30am today and plays England in the opening match of the RWC on September 19 at 7am. The test will be shown live on Fiji One and FBC TV.
