Good Governance

Savenaca Vakaliwaliwa

Surrey, BC, Canada

Saverio Baleikanacea’s response has gone off the issue and like a typical SODELPA enthusiast, drags us back to memory lane when we all want to move forward.

Saverio is correct that the Military Clean Up Campaign of 2006 overthrew a democratically elected Government, but the landslide vote by the people in support of the Bainimarama-led government kind of sends a message that Fijians care less of the previous leadership.

The PM had explained that what they did in 2006 was for the good of the nation and that the democratically -elected PM at that time was duly warned to change course but did not listen.

We are currently enjoying peace and prosperity, where we are all called Fijians on a level playing field and certainly moving forward to a new dawn as the way the world should be, even amidst struggles.

Those who brought about that change which we now enjoy needed to be protected which resulted in the immunity provision in the Constitution. But the buck stops right there, any future coups etc will cop the full brunt of the law.

Normally when we pray, we tend to end the prayer with “let thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

Why is it so hard for some Fijians to accept the good governance and God’s will in the current secular state leadership of the current FijiFirst Government?

Baleikanacea’s claim

Tukai Lagonilakeba

Namaka

His rhetoric claims and reminder to me and the good Reverend Savenaca Vakaliwaliwa’s choice as to our political affiliation with the Bainimarama led FijiFirst party and Government needs to be reaffirmed for his record.

Yes, we are die-hard supporters in the cause we stand for, we believe in it, we sleep and breathe it every single second of our breath as if it will be the last one.

It is in fact GOD’S will for the world renowned Rear Admiral [Retired] Bainimarama-led Government to continue its good work and complete the unfinished tasks that lay ahead for the benefit and sake of all Fijians including that of Savenaca Baleikanacea.

Baleikanacea is blinded by his arrogance and cannot see the internal rumblings within the leadership reigns of his compatriots in the Opposition, they have nothing constructive to offer.

Yes, I do agree with him in that so many Fijians did suffer after the 2006 coup, no difference from the other coups, as for the 2006 one, yes it was all worth the sacrifice and the wait resulting in the majority Fijians who had suffered as the retired Civil Servant had allured to, they all on September 17, 2014 overwhelmingly gave their total trust by way of their majority votes to mandate our PM to do what is right by the people of this nation.

From his village in the remote Macuata province to the peripheries of CBM and Rotuma, he will acknowledge the fast pace of infrastructure and Public Utilities development that those long forgotten ordinary Fijians and kaivata of his whom all had been long subjected to neglect by past corrupt governments but most interesting some of whom are still seen sitting in the opposition SODELPA bench.

Yes Saverio, immunity in our World Acclaimed 2013 Constitution is no different from our past rejected obsolete Constitutions but can you specifically state and confirm in what International Law is the immunity provisions in our 2013 Constitution is inconsistent with, may be the rogue self-styled lawyer in Oni Kirwan might be in a position to provide her services free for you lot to make a challenge to its validity in an International Court of her choice.

Relax and sit back Saverio, FijiFirst will be there for a very long while yet, yes Constitution Day on September 7 is a public holiday lone wolf, like it or not, it just replaces the past non relevant and obsolete Queens Birthday our Government had done away with, what a short memory.

I am hoping that he will be able to see, appreciate and derive from the many benefits and draw comfort from this great 2013 Constitution.

Through our PM’s invitation, those that had migrated long time back are now returning in droves never before experienced and are investing.
