It was a double celebration for brothers Nilesh and Salesh Kumar after they were admitted to the Bar yesterday as legal practitioners.

The two brothers were raised in Tavua by their parents who were both farmers.

They overcame financial hardships and have both attained a Bachelor of Laws and Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Fiji in Suva.

Thirty-three-year-old Nilesh Kumar, a former high school teacher, was inspired by a friend to take up law studies.

“Nothing comes easy in the world that we live in today, it takes hard work and  determination,” Mr Kumar said.

“Despite the financial difficulty that we went through when we were growing up, we planned that we were going to do our best in school and it has worked out well,”he said.

Mr Kumar currently works at a non-government organisation, Empower Pacific.

His younger brother, Nilesh said: “Our goal now is to have our own family law firm and I believe we will be able to achieve it as nothing is impossible.”
