Tourism Fiji To Make Important Announcements On Industry Day

Some major announcements of utmost importance to the tourism industry stakeholders are expected to be made by Tourism Fiji at the annual ‘Industry Day’ next month.

Tourism Fiji executive chairman, Truman Bradley, made these comments as October 20 was confirmed as the day for the event to be held at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa on Denarau Island.

The event serves as an opportunity for Tourism Fiji to announce its plans for the New Year and engage with partners in an open dialogue to listen to their needs for the growth of the tourism industry.

The Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Faiyaz Siddiq Koya, will officiate the event.

Other key guests will include the Permanent Secretary for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Shaheen Ali, Mr Bradley and members of the Tourism Fiji Board.

Last year, the event attracted 280 tourism partners, 20 media and the entire Tourism Fiji team, including the off-shore Regional Directors based in the eight key source markets.

The registrations for Industry Day this year opens on September 20.

Mr Bradley said: “Industry Day is an important forum that allows for open dialogue between Tourism Fiji and industry stakeholders on our plans for the upcoming year.

He said this is to allow them to tailor their plans accordingly so as to ensure maximum benefit for the industry as a whole.

“We realise the value this platform brings to how we operate as a support system for the tourism industry,” he said.

“Industry Day is structured so that it isn’t just about us sharing our strategies for the various markets, it is about inclusive participation.

“This is by discussing areas of concerns and listening to what our partners have planned. This includes but is not restricted to key activities for 2016, including developments, market and promotion plans.”

Mr Bradley is urging all local industry operators interested to attend the Industry Day 2015 to register before the registrations close on Friday, October 9.
