Council Urges Passengers To Arrive On Time At Airport, Despite Online Check-in

With Fiji Airways new online check-in feature now open, the Consumer Council of Fiji is urging passengers not to leave it to the last minute to get to the airport.

The council has welcomed and applauded the national carrier’s initiative which puts us on par with international airlines.

The online check-in opens 24 hours before and closes four hours prior to departure.

But council chief executive, Premila Kumar, has stressed consumers should also check the flight’s eligibility for online check-ins.

With the newly-introduced online check-in feature, consumers will be able to check-in from the comfort of their home or office via the airline’s website, before arriving at the airport.

Ms Kumar said: “A traditional airline check-in requires you to stand in a queue at the airline’s ticket counter to get your boarding pass.

“However, with online check-ins, both, passengers and the airlines will benefit. This will undoubtedly save passenger’s waiting time and airline’s resources.

“Passengers do not have to wait in queues anymore to get the check-in done at the normal check-in counters at the airport.

“Neither do they have to rush to arrive at the airport early and lose their precious time standing in long lines.

“This is good news, particularly for parents who travel with their little children. This feature will save them from the unnecessary hassle and stress.”

Consumers will also be able to print out a boarding pass and present themselves at the express bag drop counter whilst dropping their checked-in luggage.
