Envoy Boosts Japan Interest For North

Fiji’s Ambassador to Japan Isikeli Mataitoga was delighted to see how many people in Labasa showed interest in Japan, in a visit this week to the Northern Division.

During his meeting with the Labasa Chamber of Commerce and Industries, he encouraged them to explore the numerous business opportunities with the Asian economic giant. He met with the chamber members at the Banana Leaf Restaurant.

Chamber president Satish Kumar confirmed that a few of their members would be visiting Japan.

“Mr Mataitoga shared many good ideas about import and export and what are some of the products in demand,” Mr Kumar said.

He said some of the things that could be exported were pawpaw and young coconuts.

“The market is available but we do not have the quantity to meet the export demand,” Mr Kumar said.

“However, we have requested Mr Mataitoga to have some discussion and send Japanese investors to the Northern Division,” he added.
