Tabaiwalu Should Answer For Permit Blunder, Says Delegation

The Vanua Levu delegation says SODELPA’s general secretary Pio Tabaiwalu should be held accountable for permit blunder.

Spokesperson Ratu Kilipati Vakalalabure said Mr Tabaiwalu was responsible for the postponement of the party’s annual general from today to next Thursday because there was no permit. The party’s application for permit to hold the AGM was lodged only on Thursday, Police Commissioner Ben Groenewald said yesterday. He said it took seven days to process it.

Mr Tabaiwalu did not respond to questions sent to him.

Ratu Kilipati said they had travelled all the way from Vanua Levu to attend the  meeting because important issues like amendments to the party constitution would be discussed. He said they wanted to support moves to strengthen the party which stood for the protection of iTaukei rights and resources and the rights of others. He said they did not mind waiting until next Thursday because they could get more people from Vanua Levu to attend.

He said while it would cost more, the party’s interests came first.
