A technical college is expected to be built soon at Nawaca Primary School after villagers from Dama District in Bua gave their traditional approval last Friday.

Minister for Education Mahendra Reddy, speaking in Dama, said renovation would start in December.

“My presence here is not an accident, but God’s will, that is to bring higher education to your doorsteps,” Mr Reddy said.

“Many people living in the interior fail to pursue their dreams because of the lack of income to send children to Viti Levu to further their studies, but you are so fortunate that a higher education institution is here at your doorstep.”

He expects the people of Dama to enjoy the full benefits of free education.

Replying to Mr Reddy in iTaukei, Buli Nawaca Ratu Senitiki Naoko expressed the gratitude of all the people of Dama District.

“This will benefit the people of Nawaca especially the youths who are staying in the village,” Ratu Senitiki said.

“My people are so fortunate and blessed to have their very own higher education institution in the village.”

The minister also took time out to visit neighbouring secondary schools, Bua College and Naikavaki College, that would benefit from the new institution.
