More Clubs Registered For Fiji’s Biggest Futsal Carnival

Organisers of the Island Pacific Apparel Futsal tournament are expecting a tough Nadi futsal competition, which is from October 24-25.

Around 40 teams have already booked their place in what is dubbed as Fiji’s biggest futsal carnival, which will be staged at Nadi Muslim College ground. Organier Nadeem Mohammed has sought support from all stakeholders to get futsal growing in the West.

With the tournament running for the second year it has increased in sponsorship, team participation and prizemoney.

“I’m also proud to confirm that the required 40 teams have already confirmed their places and with the growing demand, we have increased the number of teams to 48 now,” he said.

“Competitions will be on a different stage this year as many teams have registered and I’m extremely thankful to the managing director of Island Pacific Apparel, Mr. Govind Goundar and its marketing manager, Sunil Chand for the support provided.”

Mohammed has reminded interested teams to register before the last eight spots are confirmed.

“Whichever remaining eight teams confirm their participation with an entry fee of $125, will be part of this high profile event,” he said.

Defending champions, Red Devils with Shafim Buksh and William Velantine are aiming for a back-to-back victory along with Southern futsal specialists Northpole, Southern Forest, Wantok- USP and Wantok-Solo.

The Shop N Save NTC is one of the favourites in this year’s competition.

The winner will receive $1100 and the late Mohammed Raffique Trophy and medals, Runners-Up get $350 cash, trophy and medals and semifinalists get $100 each. The pool draws will be held on September 25 at the Island Pacific Apparel warehouse along the Nadi backroad. The competition starts at 6pm.
