Lovoni Village in Ovalau yesterday thanked Government.

The people of Lovoni Village in Ovalau yesterday thanked Government for helping improve their lives.

“We, the people of Lovoni, are happy and thankful to Government for the assistance are getting from them,” village elder Iowane Boro said.

Mr Boro said for years the water they used came from three creeks.

“The three sources of water were for Nasaumatua, for the chiefs in Lovoni and Vunivisavu Village.

“Last month we received this help from Government providing us with clean drinking water.

“Our new tanks filters water from a stone to the sand then on to a small tank that stores this clean fresh drinking water made especially for students here at Lovoni Primary School,” he said.

Mr Boro said piped water were used for drinking and cooking while washing, laundry and bathing were at the three creeks running through the village.

The village also thanked Government for new desks and chairs donated to the school.

“This new desks would help our children because the desks they use now had been there since our school days,” he said.
