Ratu Isikeli Cagilaba has made me the man i am today says former Flying Fijians winger Vilimoni Delasau yesterday.

He made this comments at the funeral in Sorokoba village yesterday.

“Today (yesterday) I have come and shown my last respect to one of my mentors who was always there for me at the beginning of my rugby career.

“Where i am today and the calibre of rugby i play is because of him,” Delasau said.

“He was my coach, trainer and was like a father to me. He was the one who saw the potential I had and made me wear the national colours.

Delasau recalled the ways the late Cagilaba had trained him in becoming a professional rugby player.

“I am glad that i was brought up by the harsh teachings of Cagilaba.

“Coach Cagilaba had always reminded me on how hard life is going to be and living by the words he said to me has become reality.

“I am blessed that i had came through a man like this at a young age. An aggressive and very patient man he is,” he said.

“Tu Cagi had always counted us as a family and never a day he refused to lend us a helping hand,” close friend Narendra Padarath said.

“This should be a stepping stone for us fathers as we look into fathers days this week. We must acknowledge God for making Tu Cagi a great man.

“Ratu had a quality `of any men’s difficulty he said.

The former Fijian rugby captain  died after a long illness at his residence in Sorokoba last Thursday at the age of 66. He is survived by his three children and four grand children.
