Government has set aside $5.2m for development assistance in the province of Namosi this year.

This is in addition to the $0.7m spent for development projects in 2014.

This was revealed by the Minister for Youth and Sports, Laisenia Tuitubou, as he opened the two-day Government road show at the Nakavika Primary School ground in the province of Namosi on Wednesday.

Highlighting the number of development projects in the province, Mr Tuitubou said Government was committed to addressing the challenges faced by rural people.

Some of the development projects that were in progress in Namosi included the Dada government station; the new nursing station at Waivaka and the extension of electrification grid from Vunibau to Naraiyawa.

“These projects are expected to ease the challenges faced by the people as they don’t have to travel to Nausori or Navua to access government services,” Mr Tuitubou said.

The two-day Government roadshow that ended yesterday was organised to bring products and services provided by the Government and the private sector closer to rural and remote communities.
