The Fijian men’s and women’s 7s teams have qualified for the quarterfinals of the Commonwealth Youth Games in Apia, Samoa.
The men’s team lost  to Australia 7-29  in their last pool game yesterday.

They won their opening game against the Cayman Islands 44-0.

In the  second match, they trailed Samoa 0-10 at halftime, but came back strongly in the later spell to draw 17-all.

The men’s play-offs saw the Fijians finishing third in Pool A. They play Singapore today who finished in fourth place from Pool B.

The Fijian women’s team, meanwhile, was taught a lesson by Australian who won 36-0.

The Fijians could not break the Australians’ defence. The Fijian women’s 7s  beat Tonga 21-15 in another round robin match yesterday.

The men’s and women’s teams qualify for the quarterfinals today.

Vakacavu and Shackley beat Bangladesh.

Neil Vakacavu and John Shackley put up a good fight in the second set of the Squash men’s doubles against Bangladesh to win in two straight sets (11/1), (11/10).

Blake qualifies for the women’s 50m freestyle.

Yolani Blake has qualified for the women’s 50m freestyle B Final.

Fiji’s current medal tally stands at 2 gold medal, 2 silvers and one bronze medal.
