A homely relaxed feel while serving amazing food and deserts is what The Galley in Walu Bay aims to offer their customers.

With the launching of the restaurant’s new menu and website, co-owners Pauline Benson and Jarrel Kamea, are happy with the new direction and give credit to their team.

Ms Benson said they prefer to use local produce as it is fresh and explained how they came about creating their new menu.

“There is abundance of local food here and because we have lived overseas for a while, we have learnt to appreciate what we have locally,” she said.

“It’s just about creating dishes that taste good from our local products that showcase the talent of our chefs.”

Mr Kamea added when the couple took over ownership in March early this year, they were ranked 12 on the TripAdvisor.

“But now we are on number two and working toward the number one spot,” he said.

The website

Ms Benson, who handles the restaurant’s website, said the purpose is to make things a lot easier for their customers.

“Now days it is really important to have an online presence,” she said.

“That is also a great way to market not only our, menu but even our staff.

“So you go on our website, you got all our staff members, they will have a bit of a background about our dishes and gallery.

“It makes it easier as well for people to book online and to reserve a table.”

Challenge

Though it may sound easy, the couple has agreed the changing was not quite as easy as it sounds.

With the wide range of dishes to choose from, they believe it’s not just about what they liked.

They said it’s about what people’s tastes are as well as which is important while considering the change.

Expansion is in the pipeline for the restaurant and talks are underway for opening another restaurant in Suva.

But the couple explained they would stick with the current location because of the beautiful sea view.
