Minister for Health and Medical Services, Jone Usamate led the way in the fight against non-communicable diseases on Tuesday. In a 30-minutes aerobic session, more than 50 of the Ministry of Health staff joined him at the ministry’s carpark in Toorak, Suva.

The session was conducted in conjunction with World Physical Therapy Day.

Mr Usamate said the aerobic session would be held every Wednesday.

“We are hoping that these activities will inspire staff to get fit and start exercising their bodies as part of fighting non- communicable diseases.”

He urged all Fijians to dedicate at least 30 minutes a day for exercising and training.

“Everybody move and shake your body. 30 minutes a day can help so when you are not doing anything at all, at least walk around,” Mr Usamate said.
