FEA Submission To Make 95% Grant Scheme Claimable

The Fiji Electricity Authority has made a submission to increase the claimable amount for the Fiji National University’s Grant scheme from 90 per cent to 95 per cent.
The submission comes as the FNU conducts consultations with the business community to revise the grants scheme.
All businesses in Fiji are required to pay FNU a one per cent levy on their total wages and salaries.
Currently, the businesses can claim back up to 90 per cent of this money in the form of grant if they invest in approved training and professional development of their employees.
FEA general manager human resources, Naveen Lakshmaiya, said it was time for a review to get maximum returns.
Mr Lakshmaiya believes the revolving of training and development in the organisation is actually going to make a big impact.
“It means return to their funds as more people are trained in the whole process,” he said.
“We have also added as part of our review to see innovation in the funds right now as Fiji is growing.
“We need new ideas and concepts and Fijian organisation have a lot of brilliant people.”
Mr Lakshmaiya said the Fiji Electricity Authority has had a dynamic rise in the return on the Fiji National University Grant Scheme levy paid since 2012.
Fiji Electricity Authority is one of the leading Method A Employers in terms of Grant Assessment and Claim.
