Government will continue to deliver the best possible services and infrastructure to the people of Fiji, says Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

He said this while opening the new Nausori Municipal Market yesterday.

The adjoining facility replaces the old market that had stood since 1938.

“So I’m delighted to preside over the opening of such a dramatic improvement to Nausori’s infrastructure. And one that will improve the lives of all who come to Nausori to sell their produce or come here to shop,” Mr Bainimarama said.

He said the relocation and upgrade of the market and bus stand was part of his Government’s continuing programme to deliver the best possible services and infrastructure to the Fijian people.

“As I’ve said many times before, we deliver and we serve. And in this case, we are serving the people of Tailevu, Rewa and Naitasiri with a brand new spacious complex in the hub of the three provinces – Nausori.”

Mr Bainimarama said 2015 would go down as the year in which they significantly boosted the prestige of Nausori and its ability to facilitate the movement of people and goods from right across these three provinces.

“The year in which the people of Tailevu, Rewa and Naitasiri finally received what they have long deserved – modern facilities worthy of the importance of this region and Fijians who live here. One that will significantly boost the economy of Nausori and surrounding areas.

“This once sleepy town is coming alive with a number of major projects in recent years, including the new Rewa Bridge, the four-laneing of the road from Nausori to Suva, the upgrading of the Wainibokasi Road and in the very near future, the extension of the Nausori Airport,” Mr Bainimarama said.
