Musket Cove Regatta Week Starts

The 32nd Musket Cove 2015 Fiji Regatta Week started yesterday at Musket Cove Island.
The annual race is hosted by the Musket Cove Yacht Club and Musket Cove Island Resort and Marina. It’s a favourite stop-over for international yachts and some locals.
Marina manager Sophie Daveta said since 1984, the annual event had been a success.
She said the field had increased from 40 to 82 yachts. They compete in three races until Wednesday. She said the biggest contingent is from New Zealand including yachts from Australia, South Africa, Europe and eight from the Royal Suva Yacht Club (RSYC).
One of the new competitors, SY Encore, a two-year-old 150 feet yacht is registered in the Cook Islands. She has a crew of six including Adrianne Wishart who is from New Zealand.
“The Fiji waters is our home and we love to participate in this event,” Wishart said.
Meanwhile the Musket Regatta Week will include the Vodafone Beachcomber Pirates Day, Legendary Corona Namotu to Musket Stand Up Paddle, Golf, Punjas Olympics Biathlon, Port Opua Hobiecat Challenge with the main event – Fiji Water Malolo Classic.
