The Caqiri Nasole Methodist Church kicked off its week-long golden Jubilee celebration with a march through Caqiri and Nasole in Nasinu yesterday.

Church spokesperson (tuirara) Isimeli Raqio said the church started with just a few families who came to live in Caqiri and Nasole in the Nasinu area.

“Our church elders who first formed the church talked about the challenges they faced so they came up with the idea of forming a church,” he said.

“The church started by having one Sunday church service each in Meli Serevi Bakani’s house in Nasole and Jope Volavola in Caqiri and later gained more families moving into these two neighbourhoods which then needed an area of worship,” he said.

“We have come so far and we look forward to celebrating Waisale Serevi’s Hall of Fame induction later in the week,” he said.
