We thought our brother Kiniviliame Cabemailau had died after hearing rumours he was shot in Sinai, says Sunia Kaulotu.

Emotional elder brother Mr Kaulotu was sharing his family’s experience when they fi rst heard the news about Private Cabemaitoga on air.

Mr Kaulotu said they had never gone through a situation like that.

“It was just last Saturday that we heard the news about our small brother and we thank the Lord that he is well,” he said.

“It is only in the movies that we see soldiers being attacked, shot and killed and for a close relative to be in that situation is very scary,” Mr Kaulotu said.

“I couldn’t sleep well that night and just kept seeing his face and looking at his photos on my mobile phone.”

He said it was only when the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) reps visited and told them he was well, then they were at peace.

“The soldiers came here yesterday (Saturday) and told us that it was not a major injury and he has been well taken care of,” he said.

Mr Kaulotu said they were just chatting with him on Skype last Thursday night.

“Kiniviliame has always done our family proud and that we always loved him so much.

“We had lost our mom and we would not want to lose another one in the family.”

Pte Cabemailau is the second youngest in a family of four brothers.

His mother had passed away in 2008 when he was still at Ratu Kadavulevu School and his father has remarried in the village Nadrala in Nadroga.
