Labasa is in a good position to win the Rewa Galaxy Youth League title after defeating Ba 1-0 at the Fiji Football (Fiji FA) Academy grounds in Suva yesterday.

The ‘Baby Lions’ displayed excellent football to win their important match to lead the Youth League points standings with four points ahead of defending champion Rewa and Ba.

Labasa coach Bal Sanju Reddy commended players’ performance.

Labasa last won the competition in 1995 and the side is confident of winning.

“We are confident of winning the competition after lapse of 20 years,” Reddy said.

Fiji FA competitions manager Amitesh Pal said the Rewa and Ba game will be exciting.

“Rewa must beat Ba by two clear goals to win the Youth League.

“We are impressed with the performance of teams as they have played well,” Pal said.

Mohammed Issac scored Labasa’s lone goal from a penalty.

Rewa plays Ba on Saturday 3pm at the Govind Park, Ba.
