Mohammed Zaid was the toast of his Zaid Engineering Limited Wailevu side after winning the most number of awards during the Bank of Baroda Vanua Levu Muslim Inter-District Championship Super Premier Division tournament at Subrail Park in Labasa.

The hardworking midfielder received his Golden Boot Award for scoring a total of seven goals in the tournament along with the Best Player of the Tournament Award and Best Player of Day Six in the Super Premier Division.

“Winning three awards in one tournament is a big achievement for me and a proud moment for my family,” Zaid said.

“I have been playing soccer since Class Seven at Saint Augustine Primary School in Labasa and it has been three years that I have been playing in Wailevu team.

“I would like to thank God for giving me strength to score goals for my team during this one week tournament,” Zaid said.

“This is the first time in history that Wailevu has won and thanks to our coach, manager, players and support from family and friends.”

He said it has been one year for him playing for Labasa team and he has high hopes and dream.

“Being originally from Labasa I am delighted to contribute my talent towards the development of the team,” Zaid said.

The second-eldest of three siblings said he was fortunate to have loving and understanding parents who has been always supporting in his soccer career.

Zaid is a first year student at Fiji National University, Labasa Campus studying Diploma in Applied Computing.

Meanwhile,Vanua Levu Muslim Inter-District Championship president Mohammed Aruf Khan confirmed that 20 players have been selected during the week long tournament to participate in FANCA tournament which will be held in Nadi.

FANCA Muslim tournament features teams from Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States.
