Assault Victim Released From Labasa Hospital

Labasa taxi driver Saten Sami, who was assaulted in Labasa last week, has been released from hospital.

Police spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri said: “Mr Sami has recovered well and has been discharged.”

He said Labasa officers were still searching for two youths. A third is in Police custody. The youths allegedly robbed and attacked Mr Sami with a knife.

Mr Sami, of Wailevu, outside Labasa, was taking three youths from Labasa Market taxi stand to Vunivau after 10pm when he was allegedly attacked by them.

The youths allegedly punched his face several times, stabbed his side and back using a small hand carrying knife and stole his wallet, mobile phone and cash and ran away.
