The Fiji Police Force and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces are in total control of the security of the nation.

Minister for Defence, National Security and Immigration Timoci Natuva said this while responding  to the President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau’s  address at the opening of the 2015 – 2016 parliament session yesterday.

Ratu Epeli said the Police, supported by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, should bring to justice those who wanted to destroy democracy and impose their will on others.

Mr Natuva said: “Fiji’s security is in the good hands of the Fiji Police and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces,” he said.

He said when he made a statement on security in Parliament he mentioned that the Fiji Police Force continued to receive rumoured reports of instability from time to time and they would continue to stamp down hard on any effort to bring insecurity to this country.

The Fiji Police Force he said was working around the clock to ensure that anyone who engaged in an unethical act was brought to justice.

In the recent case in Ra, he said there were allegations of weapons been used during this alleged training exercise. He said there was no evidence to substantiate these claims during investigations.

He said RFMF was called in because of the alleged involvement of arms.

Mr Natuva said Fijians should not feel threatened as their security was safe.
