When Fiji’s starting XV step out onto the turf at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday they will do so with the knowledge that hundreds of thousands of  Fijians are backing them to go all the way.

Majority of the population is expected to gather to watch the match. Every pass and tackle will be followed closely by friends and family back home, as well as by the Fijian community in England.

The John McKee-coached side had two sessions on Monday as they had final touches on various units before the game on Saturday.

“The players are getting focused now. We had two sessions where we worked on our different units on our defence and attacking game.

“We also had a final look at our game plan and everyone is ready for their first game,” McKee said.

“It was also good to see how the senior players are stepping up and are assisting management looking after the new players.”

Veteran Sunia Koto is excited for the journey.

“It’s our lifestyle. We really enjoy the support of the community and our families back home. That’s one of our team focuses,” he says.

Rugby was a unifying factor for the country.

“We’re a very multi-racial country. When rugby’s being played and the Fiji team plays, it just unites our country.

“We put everything aside for that instance and when we win everybody’s happy,” Koto said.

The team had a rest day yesterday and will resume training today.
