Police in Labasa are looking for the driver of a black twin cab that hit two vehicles at Delailabasa early yesterday morning.

The accident caused a big traffic jam along Nasekula Road during peak hours.

Eye-witness Sandeep Kumar said the black Hilux twin-cab hit the two vehicles then drove away.

“The twin cab was wobbling when it was travelling towards Labasa Town because it hit the two vehicles that were travelling towards town,” Mr Kumar said.

He said it all happened so fast and left bystanders and fellow drivers terrified.

Police spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed the incident saying that officers in Labasa were still looking for the driver.

“Drivers should take precautions especially during peak hours as many school students travel on the road as well.” Peni Drauna


Fire truck hits an  electric post

The driver of a National Fire Authority truck sustained minor injuries after the vehicle he was driving veered off the road and hit an electrical post. The accident happened at Vitogo, Lautoka on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed the incident.

“The accident happened at around 3pm when the driver lost control of the fire truck  causing it to veer off the road and hit an electrical post,” he said.

“The man received minor injuries but was treated and sent home.”Inspector Sokomuri said the Police were once again urging the general public to be vigilant on the road when driving. Salote Qalubau
