Vodafone Fijian 7s players have completed their World Rugby Strength and Conditioning Level One course which was held in Suva this week.

This course is designed to provide beginner strength and conditioning coaches with a basic knowledge and understanding to prepare players more thoroughly to play Rugby Union.

Fiji Rugby Union chief executive officer Radrodro Tabualevu said this was the first time for Fiji specially our local players to achieve this.

“It’s a new thing that we’ve introduced into the rugby system.

“This is very important for us specially the players because when they go out for their daily training they have an understanding and knowledge on how to play good rugby,” Radrodro said.

The 7s players attended the two-day course at the Pacific Theological College in Nasese.

Meanwhile the Vodafone Fijian 7s Coach Ben Ryan is currently in England for the 2015 Rugby World Cup at the same time Ryan will be doing his players selection for 2016 Rio Olympics.

Ryan earlier said that following the RWC he would be visiting Fijian players in Europe and see if they are in form for Rio Olympics.

Toulon winger Josua Tuisova and Sireli Bobo are most likely to join the 7s squad.

“Sireli trained with us before we went to Papua New Guinea for the Pacific Games just to keep himself fit and he is a quality 7s player.

“I don’t judge on age, but I judge on form.

“He is a quality player. We got nothing to lose, and we have a lot to gain when these players are putting their hands for selection in the next 6 months,” Ryan said.

“For Tuisova I admire him with the fact of how he has been doing in Toulon.

“A lot of people in Toulon speak highly of him and I will get to see him in September,” Ryan said.
