The Fiji Police Force are currently looking for a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a child at a school in Suva last Thursday.

Commissioner of Police Ben Groenewald said they were aware of the incident and were investigating the case however they had not caught any suspect yet.

Mr Groenewald said the incident was serious and he was also concerned for the security of the school.

“We are very concerned about primary security at schools which must be ensured by the governing bodies, the staff, principals and head teachers,” he said.

Mr Groenewald has also advised school heads to take precautionary measures to prevent strangers from entering school compounds during school hours.

Meanwhile, Police chief of operations Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rusiate Tudravu confirmed there were no serious offences reported last Friday night following the Ratu Sukuna Bowl rugby match in Suva.

He said his officers had been conducting a 24-hour operation since Thursday.
