Former Rewa Football association president Pranil Singh believes   his team has a sure shot at the Fiji Football elections next month.

Singh is the Administrator for the team which will be headed by Shalendra Prasad who is contesting for the presidential position which Rajesh Patel currently holds.

“Until three months ago there was nothing from Fiji FA to any district at all, the allocation from Fiji Football to the districts was basically zero.

“Whatever the districts were getting was the gate taking from the national league which I have said for the best performing team would be around $10,000 to $14,000 ,gate shares from Fiji fact  and IDC which would collectively make up $5000, so $15,000 collectively but there was never any grant given to support district associations before,” Singh said.

He said the announcement of the grant allocation $5000 to all premier division teams was made during the BOG tournament.

“$5000 is not enough and if you look at the whole structure I’d say $40,000 is not enough as well, it is still way out from what an association’s expenses are.

“If you take a step back, look at Fiji Footballs’ financial report it’s not a true reflection of how much money is spent in the country in football because the district associations spend a lot of money from their own pockets which is not accounted for.”

He said he hoped that once elected most people would not see running a football association as a financial constraint.

“We would try and work our way through to see how we can move away from that, this is to open up the constitution to see anybody can contest and the right people would come in.”

Meanwhile Nadroga Football association president Vijay Singh and Tailevu/Naitasiri Football association president Shalend Roy are vying for the position of vice president.

The Fiji Football Association elections will take place next month in Ba.
