Heads of tikina in the Lau province have been reminded about their roles and responsibilities in the successful reintegration of ex-offenders back into their communities.

Speaking during their workshop in Suva earlier this week, Corrections Service’s community liaison officer Assistant Superintendent Isireli Dausiga said there were ways for the province to support the Corrections Service in ensuring their sons and daughters do not enter Corrections institutions.

ASC Dausiga said it would be the best for all parents to look after their children and to see that they were not engaged in criminal activities.

“We can build a better Fiji if we are strongly working together – the communities and the Corrections Service. And we are also conducting intervention awareness programme for all young adults not to enter any Corrections Institutions because it’s a waste of time ,” he said.

He also asked the Province of Lau to pay a visit to their sons and daughters who are currently incarcerated at all Corrections facilities. Fiji Corrections Service
