Minister To Meet Taxi Drivers Over Complaints

Minister for Local Government Parveen Kumar will meet with Nausori taxi operators next Monday to address their complaints. Fiji Taxi Association general secretary Rishi Ram, in a letter to the minister, sought a relocation of the Nausori taxi stand.
“Ever since the closing of the old market and bus stand, more than 100 taxi operators from this taxi stand now could hardly earn $10 per day as there is no business.
“They were all dependent on the market shoppers and the bus passengers. But after the relocation of the market and bus stand to the new siteit has affected business,” Mr Ram.
Mr Kumar said the Government was trying its best to solve the issues raised.
“I have asked the Nausori Town Council chief executive officer to provide services to the public on rotational basis from the new market and they have been doing this.”
