Lau Day For Next Year

A Lau day “Na Siga Kei Lau” will be held next year.
This was a proposal made by the Assistant Roko Joeli Nagera to by the Lau Provincial Council meeting yesterday.
This had been agreed by delegates.
Mr Nagera said a letter of invitation to open the Lau day was personally hand delivered to the Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare by the Roko Tui Lau, Mr Timoci Macanawai at East Sepik early this year.
Mr Macanawai was part of the Lau delegation that visited East Sepik early this year.
He confirmed to the Fiji Sun that he hand delivered the letter to the Grand Chief during the visit.
Mr Nagera said this day would enable the committee to record traditional and cultural activities in the group.
He said this event would also bring the Lau people closer to each other.
Mr Nagera said the day’s programme would be different as it would include cultural and traditional activities and fundraising for a five year development plan put in place by the council.
The date of the event had yet to be decided.
