Prince Williams was so impressed with the Vodafone Flying Fijians performance yesterday that he visited their dressing room at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

The Duke of Cambridge and vice-patron of the Wales Rugby Union joined Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama in raising our reps for their spirited  display against the world’s Number Two side.

“Thank you for a great game of rugby,” Prince Williams said.

Mr Bainimarama said: “ On behalf of the people back home I thank you for a great game.”

The Flying Fijians lost 13-23 to Wales but they earned the respect and admiration of the rugby world for fighting to the last minute.

The try by Vereniki Goneva is the most spectacular in the Rugby World Cup so far. It resulted from a sweeping move deep inside their own half.
