Tanoa Group Pair For  Barista Competition

Food and Beverages senior staff Alisi Aloa and Archal Prasad will represent the Tanoa Group during the Fiji Chefs Association National Barista Competition at the Sheraton Resort next month.

And the stage for the finale is set to host the winners from various regional barista competitions on November 25.

Ms Aloa is a F&B supervisor at Tanoa Plaza Hotel in Suva and came second in the Suva competition while Ms Prasad, who oversees the Mint Cafe’ based at the Tanoa International Hotel, came second in the western competition.

“We are both looking forward to the event as it is a special one for me since joining Tanoa,” Ms Aloa said.

“We both came second in our regional competition on August 18 and August 20 respectively.”

She joined the tourism industry in 2006 at Travellers Beach Resort in Nadi and rose up the ladder from being a waitress, barmaid, front office including reception and tour desk operator.

“It is over one year and six months at Tanoa and the there has been a lot of changes in the organisation. There is always reason to be challenged and this will bring the best of our service,” she said.

The two were part of the Tanoa Salon Culinaire 2015 which took place at Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi.

Group training manager Alamjeer Shah said they decided to include the two staff as an exercise.

“We had decided to have a competition for them. Despite that they both qualified for the national,” he said.

“It will be good for them. It is very important to be involved as part of the Salon Culinaire.”
