Two female musicians from the National Youth Band (NYB) are hoping to earn a spot in the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Territorial Forces Brass Band.

Laisa Leba, 20, of Lekanai Village in Gau and Tokasa Susu, 18, of Naruwai, Bua, are among 22 NYB members who marched into the Forces Training Group (FTG) in Nasinu yesterday for 12-week basic recruitment training.

Miss Leba said: “My aim of joining this recruitment is to join the RFMF Band and also learn from the best and experienced officers in this institution.”

Miss Susu hopes to improve her skills and musical knowledge after spending two years with NYB.

“I hope to upskill myself on the various components of music and know how to play a variety of instruments so that I can earn a spot in the RFMF band,” she said.

She wants to join the military to secure an employment and assist her parents who are farmers back in Bua.
