Twenty-five investigators were yesterday urged by the Commissioner of Police to keep in mind the most important principle of policing.

Speaking during the opening of the Level 2 Investigators Course at the Fiji Police Academy in Nasova, Ben Groenewald was concerned with the level of service delivery by his officers.

“If we are to conduct a survey on how members of the public perceive our service delivery, I can tell you that less than 50 per cent of Fiji’s population would find it desirable,” he said.

“The principle of policing is service delivery, and this is something we as members of the Fiji Police Force are failing to understand and conduct efficiently”.

The Police chief noted that the force had issues with regards to having adequate resources.

“We must not make that an excuse; we must do what we can with what we have to assist the people we serve,” he said.

The 25 participants include Police officers, and officers from the Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.
