Esiteri Nabou, 11, said being the official mascot of the Vodafone Flying Fijians at the 2015 Rugby World Cup in London was a moment she would cherish forever.

The Samabula Primary School student, originally from Naigani, Batiki, Lomaiviti, led out the Flying Fijians in the opening game of RWC against England in front of 82,000 fans at Twickenham.

“I thanked the Lord for the opportunity that I will cherish forever.  I participated in the programme by performing the cibi and sang the national anthem in all the three dialects,”she said.

“I also encouraged the Flying Fijians and read a Bible verse.

“I chose Philippines 4:13 because it should remind them that whatever they do on the field, God will help them no matter how tough the game will be.”

Esiteri was accompanied by her father, Eapi Nabou.

She top the competition organised by Land Rover and Eurocars as part of their RWC 2015 mascot programme.

Jaguar Land Rover Global Brand experience director Mark Cameron said this was conjunction of supporting rugby from grass roots competitions to elite tournaments and teams.

“Land Rover is delighted to be giving these youngsters the opportunity of a lifetime to become mascots at RWC, as part of our ‘we deal in real campaign.”

Samabula Primary School head teacher Laisiasa Tuira said they supported her in everything she needed for the trip.

“This is a great achievement not just for Esiteri but for the whole school,” Tuira said

For the RWC programme Land Rover Fiji importer Eurocars, brought the Webb Ellis Cup for tour throughout Fiji, specially travelling throughout the centre of Viti Levu.

Eurocars led a 12 vehicle trip from Naqali to Naivucini to Monasavu and ending at Nadi, after the Fiji-Samoa and Fiji- Cook Islands match games held in Fiji.

Eurocars has been representing Land Rover in Fiji since 1995.
