Defending Fijian Secondary Schools Football champion Kamil College started their Courts Inter-District Championship in style.

This was after they beat Saraswati College 1-0 in Ba yesterday.

Left winger Aserinasa Laganivalu scored the lone goal against a prolific Saraswati College side which  included  Rewa playersBruce Hughes, Ratu Lino Roseru and national U17 rep Erami Volavola.

Kamil College were reduced to 10 men after Josaia Tawai was flashed the red card for unprofessional play.

Despite the setback the side held on to their lead until the final whistle with former U20 and Ba goalie Misiwane Narube playing a lead role.

Kamil College coach Azam Ali said their objective this year was to retain the title at any cost.

“As champions, it’s always tough to defend,” he said.

He said some key players were missing but they should not count that as an excuse.

In the other match of the day Natabua High School beat Nadi Muslim College 3-0.
