Eighty- four-year- old Laisani Daveta has always wanted to witness the annual Fiji Day parade.

This became a reality yesterday.

Mrs Daveta who came all the way from Muani Village in Kadavu was among the hundreds who gathered at Buckhurst ground in Laucala Bay, Suva to witness the parade.

She shared the experience as one she was very lucky to have witnessed because of her age.

“I’ve always wanted to attend this event but it’s always been hard because we live back in the island  and it’s very hard to come,” Mrs Daveta said.

“Today I am lucky that I am able to come and witness it, something I will never forget.”

She said the experience would be one that she would go and talk about when she went back to the island.

Meanwhile, Setaita Moikeve travelled from Namara Village in Tailevu just to attend the parade yesterday.

Mrs Moikeve said she wanted to attend this year’s event because it was also to farewell the President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.
