Every Fijian looks forward to this date every year.

Forty-five years ago on this date October 10, 1970, Fiji gained political Independence from British rule.

Here are some highlights of Government ministries and companies which Fiji Sun visited yesterday who celebrated Fiji Day.

Minister for Rural, Maritime Development and National Disaster Management, Inia Seruiratu

This year, all Fijians are celebrating 45 years of Independence with a theme ‘Togetherness in Harmony for a Prosperous Fiji’, the theme reaffirms our commitment to our Constitution which promotes fairness and equity among all races and citizens that call Fiji their home.

Every year, our company celebrates this day and this is a very special day. This year, it has been made better for our people as we have come out with a number of different Tee-shirt designs and even bands which are of reasonable price. We encourage everyone to wave a Fiji Flag, put on that Tee-shirt and celebrate Fiji Day.

Telecom Fiji Limited (TFL) general manager, Corporate Services and Human Resource, Samuela Vadei

We look forward to this date every year as it marks one of the greatest achievements by our country, the day it gained independence. As a company, we come together to commemorate on this day and may we continue to strive for the best for our country.
