After a fortnight of tough off-road racing in conditions ranging from high humid temperatures to freezing cold and torrential rain, the Isuzu Motorsports prepared MU-X has earned the coveted International Manufacturers Award at the China Silk Road Rally.

Piloted by driver Adrian Di Lallo, with Dakar-stalwart Harry Suzuki in the navigator’s seat, Di Lallo said that the award was a testament to both the professionalism of the team and the durability of the car.

Mr Di Lallo said: “We are very honoured to be named winners of the International Manufacturers Cup, and to be honest, it was quite a surprise considering we had a couple of issues.”

Red Earth Motorsport won eight of 12 stages run at the China Silk Road Rally in the ‘T2’ category and finished in overall 34th position outright.

He said: “At the end of a good day’s racing, there’s no better feeling knowing you’ve given it your all behind the wheel of a car that’s performed well.

“We attacked this event smartly – we pushed, and pushed hard, when we could. And when conditions dictated, we backed off.

“Preservation of the car to cross the final day’s finish line was our goal, and we’re all proud that we achieved that.”
