Yesterday’s Fiji Day Parade will be one that Republic of Fiji Military Forces’ (RFMF) Private Setaita Ravoka will always cherish throughout her career.

Private Ravoka was among the 66 females that made up the first ever female detachment to take part in the annual Fiji Day Parade.

Having only joined the RFMF in July this year she said she still couldn’t believe she was participating in the parade.

“I am proud of my participation this year. It will be a memory that I will never forget for as long as I am with the military,” she said.

“It is also very special to me because we are the pioneers of the inclusion of a female detachment to be part of the parade.”

More than 400 military officers took part in yesterday’s parade which was also to farewell the President and their Commander-in-Chief, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.
