Drudru Puts Nadi In Final

What happened: Jack’s Nadi was the first team to book a spot in the 2015 Courts IDC final after a 1-0 victory over Northpole Labasa at Govind Park last night.

Indiscipline costs the Babasiga Lions as they only had nine men on the field with 13 minutes remaining.

Nadi got off to a strong start displaying brilliant attacking skills.

Nadi which included Napolioni Qasevakatini and Samuela Drudru took control and put Labasa under pressure in the first 30 minutes. The ‘Green Machine’ were awarded two chances in the first half but Drudru could not beat Labasa goalkeeper Akuila Mataisuva.

Labasa led by Leone Damudamu defended well.

Halftime: Labasa 0-0 Nadi

Nadi up the momentum in the second half as both teams eager to break the deadlock. And it came in 58th minute when Drudru outclassed the Labasa defenders.

Nadi continues to maintain their dominance in the second half as they put Labasa under pressure. This resulted in Labasa down with nine men only on the field following a red card to  Damudamu in the 75th minute for head butting Samuela Drudru.

And Ilisoni Logaivau was sent off in the 77th minute for a foul play.

Big play: Nadi attackers with the leadership of Drudru and Qasevakatini played a very aggressive game.

Star turn: Nadrau native Samuela Drudru deserve praise for his hard work.

Comments:  Nadi coach Kamal Swamy said;

“We are happy with the victory because we proved critics wrong who were saying that we fixed the match against Suva.

“We played safe, we are on the right track our main message was always have faith.

Labasa head Bal Sanju Reddy said;

“ We came prepared but unfortunately we couldn’t survive.”
