Money raised during the Lomainasau Day in Tokatoka, Tailevu, yesterday will go towards constructing a planned village supermarket.

Lomainasau Day chairman Aminiasi Kenatale said they plan to build a supermarket in Nausori Town in 15 years time where villagers would be roped in as employees.

“This will be a source of income for our villagers because they are going to work in this supermarket and this is a forecast major development for Lomainasau Village,” he said.

“We have invested money in Unit Trust and with all the village fundraising every year, by 2015 we are able to achieve our aim which to open our supermarket and we are also seeking assistance of stakeholders to help us in our village projects.”

The Lomainasau Day is usually held annually where villagers from around the globe and Fiji would financially contribute through their clans (Mataqali).

The sole purpose of the fund drive is to help finance their village projects and a large sum goes to the Unit Trust.

“The money also goes towards the renovation of the village hall, construction of the village footpath, assistance towards the church activities and big share of it also goes towards our children’s education,” he said.

They aimed to raise $20,000 as part of Lomainasau Day.
