Police Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, ACP Henry Brown, has confirmed that he has met with the family of the road accident victim, Ashneel Singh.

Twenty-six-year-old Ashneel Singh was killed in a car accident last two weeks Friday after the car he was driving collided with a diplomat’s car at Edinburgh Drive in Suva.

ACP Brown during his meeting with the family last Friday informed them of the progress made with the investigations and that he has also liaised with the South African High Commission.

“ACP Brown said that they are now waiting response from the Ministry as they have corresponded with the South African Commission,” Mr Singh said.

“ACP Brown also confirmed that two cases have been lodged with the DPP, one against the the accused and the other against the Commissioner of Police for allegedly interfering with the investigation process and that the accused was drunk and over the legal limit although could not disclose further details,”he said.

Meanwhile investigations into the complaint against the Commissioner of Police, Major General Ben Groenewald were completed last Thursday. The file  is now with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, who will decide if there is evidence providing any grounds for taking action.
