Fijian professional golfer Sam Lee is looking forward to the 2015 Fijian International which tees off at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course on Thursday.

He was the only amateur who took part in the inaugural tournament last year.

“I’m more prepared now than last year because I’m a professional now,” he said.

Last year, the Korea-born  24-year old missed the cut for the top 60) after he shot a one over par 73 and seven over  79 in the first two rounds.

“Last year, on day two, I was little nervous and it cost me. I’m better than I was the last time so I believe I will do well.”

The other Fijians taking part in the event are former world number one Vijay Singh, Krishna Singh, Japan based-Dinesh Chand, Tomasi Tuivuna, Bill Suguturaga, and Anasa Seruvatu.

“There is high expectation but my goal is to play to the best of my ability. That’s what I have been doing during my practice. I know it’s not an easy course and condition so as long as I keep the ball in play, I will do well.”

“This time more people know me so I think I am going to have more support, it should be fun to have more people watching me play. This is my home course and I have been preparing everyday for the Fijian International.”

Last month, he won the RC Manubhai sponsored Ba Open and finished second in the Fiji Bitter Pro-Am golf at Denarau a  few days later.

Professional background

Since turning professional Lee has played at the lucrative BMW New Zealand Open in Auckland and the Holden New Zealand PGA Championship at the Remuera Golf Club in Auckland.
