‘Big Fijian’ Wants To Win On Home Course: Singh

National hero and three time major winner Vijay Singh along is serious about winning the Fiji International which starts tomorrow ( Thursday).

He will be playing alongside world Number 16 Matt Kuchar from the United States of America.

Singh has also called on the official to slow the green a bit to enjoy the competition.

“I’m looking forward to playing,” he said.

“I was excited last year to come for the first tournament. My mind was on how to fix this golf course. Now I’m little bit used to it and know what to expect.”

Background

The 52-year-old has been playing couple of practice rounds on the course and felt the wind blowing a bit.

“I have talked to the officials and they have to slow the greens down a lot. Last year it was okay. This year the wind is a bit stronger.

“You have to slow the greens down to where you can actually be comfortable putting on the greens,” he added.

“It is already a hard job trying to hit the ball. To get on the green is even harder. If the winds are slow then it will be lot more enjoyable.”

In his career triumps, he has claimed US PGA Tour titles. He turned pro internationally in 1982.

He has held the number one spot  in the world for 32 weeks from 2004 to 2005.

Meanwhile the official Pro-Am Day will be held today with the gates opening from 7am.
