The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) is reminding Government quarters’ tenants to pay their water bills before moving out of the property.

WAF accounts officer Northern Lui Raqitawa highlighted this during the WAF Consultation session at the Labasa Civic Centre yesterday.

The issue was brought up by Sadrugu Ramagimagi, a tenant at a Government quarters in Labasa.

Mr Ramagimagi raised his concern after he received notice of unpaid arrears by the previous tenant.

Mr Raqitawa said the authority was working closely with the Commissioner Northern to track tenants of such.

The office is following up with former tenants to clear their dues, he said.

“The Commissioner Northern’s Office is in the process of writing to respective ministries and tenants responsible for the recovery of any outstanding bills.

Most of the arrears were accumulated when tenants vacated the quarters without notifying WAF, thus, resulting in outstanding bills.

Meanwhile, some current tenants are paying for their bills from date of occupancy.
