Fiji will be among Pacific Island countries attending the first South Pacific Cruise Forum to be ever organised in the region.

The two day- forum starts on Friday, October 16, in Papeete, Tahiti.

The South Pacific Cruise Alliance is organising the event, which sees the gathering of eight destinations- Fiji, American Samoa, Cook Islands, New Caledonia, Pitcairn, Samoa, Tahiti and the Kingdom of Tonga.

The forum has the support of CLIA, the Cruise New Zealand and the South Pacific Tourism Organisation.

According to the South Pacific Cruise Alliance, the objectives of such an event is to:

 Enable exchanges between private and public stakeholders around sessions, conferences and workshops.

 To increase significantly the cruise business in the South Pacific islands

 To improve the operations in these countries and to outline the regional activity’s evolution in the coming years.

This exclusively cruise business-dedicated event will gather operational and institutional decision-makers of more than 10 destinations and host nearly 30 senior managers of international cruise companies.

Cruise specialists will lead meetings and conferences about specific cruise matters with the privileged audience of all the South Pacific islands Tourism Ministers attending SPTO’s Board of Tourism.

These meetings are important business-to-business marketing events for the destinations, operators and suppliers but also for the marketing network such as tour operators and specialised travel agents.

It is also the occasion to analyse the cruise evolution and trends in the region and the opportunity to meet international actors, to draw their attention on the capacities and potentialities the South Pacific Islands have to offer.
