Naweni District Connects To The World

The students of Naweni District School in Savusavu will, for the first time, have access to free internet.
This was after the Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation donated $2500 worth of technological devices and internet connection free for a year.
School assistant headteacher Samuel Qio said students no longer needed to go into Savusavu Town to use internet to complete their projects.
“Thanks to the Foundation for choosing to bring technology to our school which is often not seen or heard,” Mr Qio said.
“Such assistance would help students to carry out research and learning in school and keep up with other urban schools.”
Foundation executive officer Ambalika Devi said their mEducation technology roll-out was for school students to access advanced learning in rural communities.
Responsibility
She said the Foundation was bestowing its corporate philanthropy responsibility.
“Such help is necessary for rural schools. And teachers would be able to easily supervisor their students,” Ms Devi said.
She said the devices would allow students to use internet around the classrooms.
Ms Devi said the Foundation so far had supported over 220 schools in Fiji with over $500,000 support.
Furthermore, she said the Foundation so far had made social investments of over $15 million in building a stronger and connected community.
“Multitude and holistic learning is what we aspire to achieve through our mEducation rollout,” Ms Devi said.
